I'd much rather have a conversation. Don't get me wrong, it's nice to know that people appreciate what you have written. But it would be nice if they chimed in, rather than simply Recommend.

If this post doesn't get at least 20 reccomends, the collective community of Oppositelock will have failed miserably.

You're about to get a lot of recommendations.
I agree, but then again, personally I recommend things when they make me chuckle or I simply agree. Is writing "haha" or "Yeah, definitely" much better?

to me , a recommendation says "I like your post , but have nothing to add".

What I hate is when I get 50+ views in a few minutes on a post and only get a few comments... I wanna talk people!

Imma recommend the shit out of this. I tend to do it to acknowledge that I saw a comment that I have no reply to or if something blows my mind so much there are no words for it

Also I often read Oppo on my phone. Typing on phones can be a pain. Or you might not have time to write something because you're just waiting in line for your pumpkin latte (just kidding, I don't drink sweetened coffee). If you're on the go sometimes all you can do is hit recommend to say "good job" on your post without stopping to write something.

I read this one article earlier and I recommended every comment on it, it was that good.
And I'm all out of cleverness. . .

I think in this case you got both.
Recommend this to the moon and back, and you can also have a conversation around the following:
Commenting design peaked right before the Kinja rollout.

When I recommend I usually reply to the post as well. Both are ways of bringing comments to the top of the weird kinja system.
Granted, there are times when I just recommend stuff because it made me (at least) chuckle and I feel it shouldn't go down the deep dark depts of the Kinja commenting system.
That is at least before they trash it all in a little while only to completely change the follow-up 2 months later, so then can follow that up with something even worse. And 2 months later repeat the entire routine..
Thinking about it Kinja is kinda like politics (At least over here). Before they have the chance to get it working and figure out what could be improved, they bin their predecessors work and start all over from scratch.

Sometimes, I have absolutely nothing of any substance to add to the conversation.
Sometimes, I do have something to add, but I don't have the time to give a proper response.
Sometimes, I'm just lazy. There, I said what everyone is thinking.

You should if you get the chance. When you get to the part with the character whose name I use here, you will have one of the most memorable laughs of your life. Don't spoil it by looking it up though.

I honestly did not write this post hoping to get recommendations. However, it turned into a bit of a game. So, please do recommend it. The goal now is to see just how many recommendations I can get.
